Cambridge Polymer Group has extended the work of Kavepour and McKinley to develop a fixture that will attach to almost any existing shear rheometer. With such an approach the user can utilize the superb torque and displacement resolution and control capabilities of modern rheometers to measure the coefficient of friction of a standard surface against any flat in a range of lubricants. By using an existing rheometer there is no need to purchase new equipment, and the experimental procedure will be familiar to any rheometer user.
